Truckee

The Truckee area of Lake Tahoe is nestled at the eastern side of Donner Summit at an elevation of 5,969.  This vibrant and historic mountain community has grown and changed through the past.  There is a central downtown area with shops and restaurants and a number of surrounding neighborhoods.  Most of the main subdivisions of Truckee were developed in the 1970’s along with several newer developments built in the past decade.  Truckee is a popular vacation home location due to its proximity to many recreation opportunities in both summer and winter.  For more information on the history of the Truckee area you may want to visit: http://www.truckee.com/history.html.
