Grizzly Ranch has a total of 380 homesites on approximately 1,040 Acres located just a few miles from
the town of Portola. The outdoor recreation opportunities are endless with access to forest service land
just minutes away. One of the most popular things to do at Grizzly Ranch is golf on the Bob Cupp
designed mountain golf course. This 18-hole public course has ranked in the top 100 golf courses in the
country and offers a picturesque setting in the pines. The golf course offers long par fives and
breathtaking par threes all while enjoying the Sierra Nevada mountains. Enjoy a cold beverage and lunch
at the “Lake House” restaurant overlooking the 18 th Green. When homeowners aren’t golfing, they tend
to enjoy their days at the outpost amenities or at the nearby lakes. The overall tranquility of Grizzly
Ranch sets this subdivision apart from nearby HOA developments.
History of Grizzly Ranch
Jim Beckwourth was one of the first pioneers to make a trail up Big Grizzly Creek through the ponderosa
pines that spread across Grizzly Ranch today. In 1870 the lush landscape brought the Ramelli family who
had ranched the land for hundreds of years. For what we know as Grizzly Ranch today a few will call this
home as it developed into a beautiful HOA community. These new pioneers will experience Grizzly
Ranch as one of the finest mountain golf courses away from the noise and traffic of everyday life.
The unspoiled Sierras
The opportunities are uninterrupted surrounded by million acres of Plumas National Forest. Over 100
alpine lakes including Lake Davis only 5 miles up the road from Grizzly Ranch. Enjoy the 10 mountain golf
venues within Plumas County. Legendary Feather River, including the Middle Fork and federally
designated “Wild and Scenic River.” Get the boat out and enjoy waterskiing at Lake Almanor and
Frenchman Lake. Portola and Graeagle offer charming antique shops, local arts and crafts and a range of
dining options. Enjoy all that the Sierras has to offer within an hour drive of Reno and North Lake Tahoe.
Nakoma Golf
Nakoma golf resort offers outstanding facilities and a challenging course. The course is very difficult
when it comes to your approach shot onto the green. Like other golf courses around the area this course
offers a mountain style with long drawing holes. The feel of this course is nothing but exceptional and
has many great attributes. One of which is the top-notch luxury setting with a quiet and peaceful
atmosphere. You will most definitely experience the difficulty of this course as it frustrates the average
player. Play the course while taking in the scenery of the real estate and the privateness of the sierras.
