Donner Summit

High altitude location featuring the rural mountain communities of Plavada, Soda Springs, Serene Lakes and Kingvale.  Outdoor recreation enthusiasts are often attracted to this area due to the close proximity to downhill, cross country and back country skiing, as well as numerous other summer and winter activities.  Sugar Bowl, Boreal and Donner Ski Ranch offer great downhill skiing. Royal Gorge Cross Country Ski Center is the largest Cross Country Ski Resort in America. The neighborhoods and subdivisions of Donner Summit offer smaller and older cabins primarily used as vacation homes, however, there are also larger mountain homes and condos near the ski areas. As one of the closest Tahoe locations travelers access from the west along highway 80, Donner Summit is convenient for a mountain vacation get-away.
