What does it take to launch your boat in Lake Tahoe? It is not the easiest process to get your watercraft into Lake Tahoe. First you will have to get your boat inspected which requires an appointment. Make sure you have your watercraft completely flushed out with no leaks of any kind. If there is water in any part of the watercraft, make sure you get all of this out as it will take longer to have it done at the inspection. When making an appointment keep in mind that it may take up to several weeks in order to get inspected. Next is figuring out which launches are open which can usually be found online. You will have to pay your dues and make sure everything is done upfront before trying to launch. Some years when the water level is down only a few launches will be available. For example, Obexers on the west shore has a deep water launch which can be busy in the down years. The best-case scenario would be for you to find a buoy/dock slip which can be pricey to keep your boat on the water all summer. When the inspection takes place, they will look over your entire watercraft and make sure everything is in place so there is no pollution into the Lake. Lake Tahoe has many regulations which allows for the clarity of the water to stay at its best. It can be a little bit of a pain if you are just trying to get on the lake for a weekend but in the long run it keeps Tahoe beautiful. Keep in mind launching your watercraft in Lake Tahoe has a few steps you must follow in order to allow for a launch. There is check stations at every open launch and you will be required to show that you have completed the inspection. Get out there and enjoy the beautiful Lake!
